Are your kid’s Halloween costumes PC?

remember when the kids in your class came to school as Jason, the killer from the Friday the 13th movie serial, brandishing a plastic, red paint splattered butcher knife? Or Freddy Kreuger, complete with mask and razor glove? It sounds like those days are over. Usually, we’re against the overly sensitive rules society puts in place, like the participation trophy, but, maybe this isn’t such a bad idea. do we really need the kids to go to school with fake blood and pretend cutlery so they can play imaginary dismemberment?

the reader may win best picture

It comes as no surprise to us that The Reader has been nominated for Best Picture.  We really enjoyed it and wrote about it in our Movie Reviews Blog. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out – you’ll enjoy it.  Kate Winslet is really great, we think she’ll win best actress in a leading roll, because she FRIGGIN RULES IN THIS MOVIE.  We wrote a few spoilers about it when we reviewed The Reader, but if check out review, you’ll have to highlight that part of the page to read anything that will spoil the movie for you.

Yankees shouldn’t give deal to Burnett or Lowe

Rumor has it that the Yankees will follow up their offer to CC Sabathia with offers to starting pitchers Derek Lowe and AJ Burnett.  We think this is the wrong way to go – Lowe might have had decent numbers last year, but he was in the NL West, a horrible hitting division, and he’s an older guy.  AJ Burnett only seems to pitch well when its his walk year.  The Yankees should concentrate on finding a way to get the deal done with Sabathia and get some cheaper, younger arms – let internal candidates fight it out if needs be!  The Yankees have been drafting/trading for some quality arms the last few years, lets see what happens… we know it didn’t work out last year, but if they can sign Sabathia and resign Pettitte, throw Joba Chamberlin in there with Chien-Ming Wang, you can live with somebody finding their way – Pettitte is bound to have a bit better year than 2008 in 2009…

1. bring an extra bag so you can portion fake butter topping properly
2. have your lady get an extra large purse to sneak in soda… we mean… uhm… DON’T do that – that would be wrong. VERY WRONG.
