Are your kid’s Halloween costumes PC?

October 31, 2009 by mytristate

remember when the kids in your class came to school as Jason, the killer from the Friday the 13th movie serial, brandishing a plastic, red paint splattered butcher knife? Or Freddy Kreuger, complete with mask and razor glove? It sounds like those days are over. Usually, we’re against the overly sensitive rules society puts in place, like the participation trophy, but, maybe this isn’t such a bad idea. do we really need the kids to go to school with fake blood and pretend cutlery so they can play imaginary dismemberment?

Happy Halloween!

Yankees could take games 3 & 4 with starting pitching advantage

October 31, 2009 by mytristate

First, we’ll recap games 1 & 2 of the 2009 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies
Game 1: CC Sabathia was good, despite struggling with his control, but Cliff Lee was genius. You also have to give a big tip of the hat to chase utley for his 2 homers off Sabathia. Sabthia, as mentioned, had issues with his control, but it didn’t help Utley’s teammates him off him.
Game 2: AJ Burnett delivered, despite people’s misgivings. Pedro Martinez was surprisingly good, but Burnett was better. Joe Girardi pushed all the right buttons.
Games 3 & 4: Cole Hamels, who was last year’s World Series MVP, has not been the same guy this year. The Yankees have to be pumped that the Phillies are starting Joe Blanton in Game 4 instead of Cliff Lee on short rest.

Scientology, Republicans, MLB Playoffs and the New York Yankees

October 28, 2009 by mytristate

We’ve got some new blogs posted at our site, MyTriState.us. We’re pumped up about Scientology losing a fraud case in France because, well, we just don’t like them! It’s not a huge fine, but getting the word out about we regard as the bogus nature of Scientology is good enough. Also, the Republicans have lost their minds – seriously – they’re campaigning against people running for office who are Republicans? We read they don’t think that Dede Scozzafava is conservative enough, but jeez – campaigning against her? JEEZ! Do you think the MLB Playoffs Schedule has too many off days? It did feel like it took forever for the ALCS to start this year. We are so pumped that theYankees beat the Angels in the ALCS and are headed to the World Series! We can’t say enough good things about the way Andy Pettitte pitched, but part of this Yankees victory belongs to the Angels’ bumbling.

hope the rest of the week goes well for everybody out there! Let’s go Yankees!

Updates: zombieland movie review, new york giants, new york jets and more!

October 20, 2009 by mytristate

Rebooting a Nightmare on Elm Street – is this really necessary? Michael Bay is the criminal behind this. Check out our
thoughts on a 9th nightmare on elm street movie or check out more from our Movie Reviews Blog

Giants fall to superior New Orleans Saints – Yeah, OK, a FOX broadcaster might have uttered the idiom, “The Saints are marching!” Just because he sounded like a dumb ass didn’t mean it wasn’t true. Read more of our thoughts about the Giants vs Saints game or check out more from our Giants Blog

Jets suffer ugly overtime loss to Buffalo Bills – It’s tough to lose a game like that in over time. Read more about the Jets vs Bills or check out more from our new york Jets Blog

Zombieland – See this film with someone you love – oh wait, sorry, that’s from our draft review of ‘A Christmas Carol.’ Its OK to see Zombieland with someone you love, because they do sneak a little romantic subplot in there, but for the most part, Zombieland is a good popcorn eating, zombie smashing, its-violent-and-its-hilarious time. Read more of our Zombieland movie review or check out more from our Movie Reviews Blog

Yankees take games 1 and 2 from Angels – The Yankees are shinning their brightest in the playoffs with big hits and dominant pitching while the Angels look to be headed in the other direction. Read more on the series of Yankees vs Angels or check out more from our Yankees Blog
